The choristers looked and sounded great today. We were working on an ending to a piece with “Hosanna in excelsis” and they blew me away with how easy it sounded up so high.
Pictured below is one of my favorite warm ups for the voice and body, the Solfege Shake. It makes a lot of odd meters and the goal is only four “do’s” at the end. Ask your chorister to show you how it’s done. Taking roll themselves is not always accurate! Good thing I recognize most of the choristers by now and can mark them as here. What does it mean when you wear ear muffs to choir?

It’s easier with actions. Here’s a sample of what we do on “Gloria.” Of course, it’s only for rehearsal.
in addition to being health and safety week, we had some super singers attend our rehearsal.
Really all the singers are super. I enjoy spending time with them each Wednesday morning. We may or may not have had a little extra help during rehearsal from Will and Ethan. We did learn to make space like Bob-the-tennis-ball and drop our jaws when we sing.
Starting the day singing, moving, conducting, clapping, you name it, we do it and have a great time together!
